Besides technical aspects there are also plenty of business aspects to keep in mind when working with IT. Plenty of IT projects fail because companies just start focusing on the technical part and forget about the business aspects they have to deal with. Buying an expensive software solutions is no guarantee that this will solve all your problems, doing a thorough research before starting a project will fix your problems.

When you want to buy a new software solution it's wise to identify all your business processes. After identification you will have a clear picture of all the information flows within the organisation and see which processes cause possible problems.

Another area you need to deal with are the employees in your organisation. Are they looking forward to working with new software? Doing a software implementation "top-down" without support from your employees is a guarantee for failure.
